Program – Ben Winkleman and his dad who updated us on Grays Harbor Unders. They related to us what their product does (keeps you dry) and how many sports like it . There was even a demonstration on how it works. They  make the product in the old swimming pool building.

Program – Sheriff Rick Scott who told us all about Lindsey investigation. over 7,500 man hours with several hundred people involved searching for evidence. This included several dog teams. He also spoke about the big Chinese drug bust. We were all interested in the updated information. It is always great to have Rick as a program

Program –  Al introduced Tom Rowley who related his trip to Antartica. He flew to Chili and then to the Falkin Islands and S. Georgia Islands. He sowed many slides of the islands, boat tour, and several of the animals. What a trip!

29th – discussion of Dee]s park project

Program – Glen Thompson (cranberry rancher) and Dave Bellomany Ag scientist from Ocean Spray) who manages 105 cranberry growers. Cranberries are not a row crop like corn. He told about the many harvesting methods, plants produce for 4 – 15 years but some have gone as long as 85 years. Fresh earns the most money and process berries less. Interesting information.

1st reading of next year officers.

Program – Jim Wyrich accepted a check to help pay for bus repair for Eye Care We care. He answered question  and told about what goes on during a mission. He left to catch the plane to the Philippines. He will be gone for 11 days seeing about 500+ patients. Irv from Aberdeen told us about the eye machine that they are wishing for help to buy to take around to schools to test the kids eyesight both near and far sighted. It will do 7 functions really quick. Each unit costs  $7.000.00 . He accepted a check also.

Dee told us about his 3 month trip to California, Arizona and Texas

Program – Jim Wyrich and eye care – we care. He said there are 11 missions to the Philippines for 2018 although they has a lot of problems with the mobile bus ( motor and transmission ) They see 500+ patients a day. Since 2005 they have served over 25,000 patients. He related on how he got to do what he dose. Impressive!

Program – Jerry S. slide show about gun fights in the early west. Very few were face to face like duling. which was glorified by Hollywood in 1950 and 1069’s TV shows Most were shot in the back. He spent time talking abou Wikd Bill Hickok, Jin Carwright, Luck Short, and Bat Masterson. Interesting information! Several questions followed.

Program -Molly and Dana from Paws. They told us about their goals and future plans. They gave out handouts so we could get an idea of how much it takes to run PAWS. They have acquired the house next door which will house a Vet (intern) and dog kennels so they do not have to have a vet take the animals when they are not open. They are open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturdays.They gave about 25 volunteers helping out.

Program – Jerry S. introduced Ken Albert the Graus Harbor Treasurer. The treasurer is the ‘bank for the county’. He explained all the changes to the treasurer’s dept. They just completed some changes this morning. The changes are to make it much easer to navigate around to get the answers you are looking for and to cut down on the confusion you have been experiencing. Proptery tax statements will be mailed out March 16. Thanks to Ken for all that information.

Program – Paul M introduced Pam Pelan. She has started a Horse Prayer program for handicapped children ages 4 to 13. It is located on 300 acres in Copalas. It is non profet. They will be up and running in June. They have 2 horses now and expect to have 30 horses when they are self sustaining. It is a much needed program for the county’s special need children.  They will be using mentors and volenteers. Cpntact Pam Pelan for more information.

Program – Ray showed slides and told us about his recent rip to a South Africa game preserve. They road around in Land Rovers twice a day. He saw an awful lot of different animals. The game preserve does not feed them or help the injurd ones – they let nature take its course. Great program Ray!

Program – Paul Dean introduced Firefighter Dan Robinson ( the newest firefighter) who told us all about falling and what we can do to prevent that from happening. 1 in 3 people over 65 will fall. Things to do to prevent falls: review medication with your health provider, exercise to improve balance and strength, eyes and feet checked, make your home safer. This was a real good review information.    outstanding job Dan!

Program – Pail Dean told us about his latest (number 26) trp (to the Phillipines) The island of Palawan where he had 400+ patients for glasses. Lots of slides showing the people, the country side, what goes on in the clinic, what is used for transportation, village buildings, etc. Money 50 paso to $1.00. He also told us about the Papawan massacre on  Dec 14, 1944 where 143 died with 7 survivors.. good presentation. Next trip Janurary 19 to Jamaica
