Feb 10,2015   AL Bruun reporting

King :Lion Seppo called the meeting to order. The singing was outstanding, mostly because of all the guests we had. There were 8 guests representing the students of the month, 7 science fair presenters, and 3 from the science side of the school.

Brock introduced the students of the month – Hannah Houbregs who wants to be an orthodontist, and Drew Carley who wants to go into music and drama..

Stan introduced the 6 finalists from the science fair that presented their science project to us to vote on one to receive the $1,000.00 scholarship. We could see that they all put in a lot of work in these projects. They we all great! The winner was #6. Good job to all.

Pot – Ray walked away with it.

 

Feb 3, 2015 – Al Bruun reporting.

1st VP Mel called the meeting to order. Singing was great

Birthdays – Al, Bud Jerry M, Paula Joann, and Dave Wayman.

Crab feed – Feb 13 ar Cosi at 6:00. Cost $20.00 person. Clean crabs at Lytle’s at 10:00.

March 21 – Music by the sea put on by coastal harvest $40.00 person at Quinault beach resort. Info at www.coastalharvestwa.org.

Program – Ray introduced Jan Jorgenson Director of the from Grays Harbor College Foundation. There are 13 schools taking part in the World Class Scholars program. The students sigh up and sign a contract in the fall and are tracked throughout the program mostly by parents. In their senior year in  spring they are recognized. They get a $1,500.00 scholarship. Current tuition is $4,000.00 a 3 quarter school year. On Feb 26 there is a fund raiser called Mystery Getaway. $50.00 ticket. There are other scholarships available with a deadline of March 9.Also, check out Bishop Center programs.  Questions – contact Jan Jorgenson at Grays Harbor College.

Meeting called to order by King Lion Seppo.  Singing was outstanding.

King Lion Seppo announced that he would be absent for a couple of weeks and 1st Vice President Mel Thompson will assume control.  Happy Mel is feeling good enough to do so…

REMINDER: The Crab Feed will be held on February 13th at the Cozi Lions Club starting at 6PM.  Please bring your own tools, plates, glasses, etc.

GUEST SPEAKER:  Steven Slaughter, a geologist with the Dept. of Natural Resources discussed the Landslide history, current and future potential.  Also, he discussed and presented a most professional slide show regarding slope stability in local areas.  Kudos to Steven.

Lion Mary Thornton won a large amount of $$$$ as the pot winner.
